Kon Picture!!

(My usual greeting for photo posts – a mix of “Konbanwa” (Good evening) and “Picture”😄)

In my previous Travel Log, I shared the atmosphere of the Chikugo River Fireworks Festival in Japan.

This time, it’s all about the photos – my very first attempt at shooting fireworks with the Canon EOS R50!

Camera Setting

・Camera : Canon EOS R50

・Shutter Speed : 2 sec

・Aperture : f/11

・ISO : 100

I used a tripod, and yes… I pressed the shutter by hand!

Best Shots

Here are my two favorite captures:

First shot

Six colorful fireworks lined up in the night sky,

creating a vivid and balanced scene.

Second Shot

A powerful burst of overlapping fireworks with food stall lights below – the true festival vibe.

For my first fireworks shoot, I was happy to get shots I could be proud of.

“Oops” Shots

Not everything went smoothly… but mistakes are part the journey!

・One shot turned out too bright due to aperture settings.

・A smiley face 🙂 firework… but I pressed too late, so it’s barely visible.

・A flower – shaped firework… also blurry and mistimed.

Next time, I’ll use a remote shutter app and adjust the aperture more carefully.

Final Thoughts

Fireworks are tricky! Timing and focus are harder than they look.

But next time, I want to capture so many good shots that I’ll struggle to pick my favorites 😆

Up next : I’ll share my edited versions of these fireworks photos using Photoshop.

Stay tuned for the “Editing Edition” !
